Odyssey's House

Information for the BBQ Turn....

The house is two stories, located in South San Francisco -- about ten minutes south of the city with no traffic. Small yard in the front. Larger yard in back, but not huge. Grass and honeysuckle. Petunias around the outside. It's located in a neighborhood of similar houses, dating from the 50s. It looks to have been somewhat remodeled, with the second story added on.

The front door opens on a ceramic tiled hallway. They are the large cream tiles. The hall goes about 15 feet and then there are two steps off the righthand side of the hallway that lead dow to the livingroom. The livingroom has a wood floor. Large bay windows on two walls. A fireplace is on the third wall. A large light tan leather couch and three mission style chairs make up the living room furniture. Various antiques and pieces of art decorate the livingroom. There are African masks, greek marble friezes, roman spears, etc. All culled from years of attending auctions. There are two large, wooden chest being used as endtables.

The kitchen is a large open room. Ceramic tile again. This time cream tile with cherry-colored accents. A lot of counter room with a center island that holds the stove and more counterspace. Copper pots hang above the center island.

One full bathroom on the bottom floor. Also a library/office. This room is crammed with books on art, antiquities and various other interests of Cassie and Tony. The room has a comfortable ambience of chaos. Papers are everywhere. Books are open to pages with notes like "Compare to 6th century Greek vase found at Crete." A Power Computing machine is tucked into one corner on a desk, practically hiden by paper and post-it notes. Bookcases cover most of the walls. The occasional open wall space is decorated with prints or oil paintings. There is a picture of William Waterhouse's "Miriam Leaving the Judgement Seat of Herod" and John William Godward's "Dolce far niente".

Downstairs off the kitchen there is also a small pantry. Tony keeps wine in there as well as food.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms (including the master bedroom) plus two bathrooms.

The master bedroom is decorated in light tans and light blues. There is a Shaker bedroom set (bed, tall chest of drawers and small chest of drawers, nightstand.) The Master bedroom looks out over the back yard. The bathroom is also decorated in light blue. The master bedroom has only a few wall decorations - some African basketry, two pieces of Greek pottery and a small statue of David.

The other two bedrooms are used as 1) a guest bedroom and 2) a project room. Tony has an architect's desk set up in here with building plans scattered across it.
