Sent to train under Rally at the age of 15, Nami is one of the oldest members of the AMP. A Shinto priestess, she uses her mystical powers as well as several enchanted artifacts to fight incursions of Lucifer Folk.
Nami comes from old clan dedicated to defending Japan from entities and other supernatural creatures. She is the sole inheritor to her family's ancestral legacy, the ability to wield the enchanted Kirin Dagger, a weapon of great power.
Nami is a young Japanese woman, 18 years old when the series starts. She stands 5'3" and weighs only 105 lbs. Her hair is blackish purple and falls to her waist (later, she has it cut in a purification ceremony to shoulder length). Her eyes are also purple.
Being a Shinto priestess, Nami wears a white kimono at all times. Her failure to wear the standard AMP uniform is a minor irritant to Lebia, who feels it is 'improper' that Nami doesn't dress like everyone else.
Nami's powers were *very* difficult to determine. She is shown in both the anime and the manga preforming certain actions, but what exactly she is doing is difficult to determine. I will readily admit that the powers given to her below are based mostly on speculation. I tried to examine the actual manga panels for visual clues as to the nature of the powers being represented as well as working of dialogue cues.
Nami's primary powers are centered around the use of her ofuda, which are long rectangular pieces of paper inscribed with text in an ancient form of kanji. She can use them in a variety of ways. If placed on a supernatural creature it will burn, damaging the target. She can place several ofuda up as anchor points and use them to form a spiritual barrier. Finally, she can place an ofuda as a marker, allowing her to sense if some one passes it.
Nami also carries several vials of holy water, that can be thrown at a target. Although the holy water doesn't do a great deal of damage initially, it acts very much like acid, burning and melting any supernatural creature it contacts.
Finally, Nami carries two very potent magical artifacts. These are Dagger of the Kirin and the Sword of the White Tiger. The Dagger is a short, straight-bladed weapon. When drawn, it can be used to summon the spirit of the kirin, which takes the form of a searing flash of energy and fire. If held out before her, Nami can use the Dagger defensively, to erect a shield to defend herself from attacks. The Sword of the White Tiger is a weapon she gains much later in the series. I am uncertain of it's appearance, but understand it's primary power is the ability to 'cut well'. It apparently doesn't have any other properties.
Nami is wears her robes at *all* times. In the year 2024, such a costume looks a little out of place, since almost everyone dresses in Western fashion. Thus, she stands out in a crowd.
Nami is a very shy, quiet and reserved individual. As a Shinto priestess, she is supposed to avoid eating red meat, drinking alcohol and is to remain celibate (among other things). Nami is almost pathologically conscious about cleanliness and is constantly sweeping up about her desk. She also keeps multiple spare uniforms (robes) in case her main set becomes dirty. A side effect of this phobia is a pronounced dislike for insects and other small crawling creatures.
