Firehawk's Account

What was your first impression of Armstrong? What were the circumstances?

She sighs. "Well, I knew Kevin Armstrong from way back -- I've had a close relationship with PRIMUS since I discovered my powers.  I went to his funeral, for Christ's sake, and hugged his mother at the graveside.  I can't imagine what changed with him -- he was so noble and strong.

"I never made the VF-2 connection, not until much later.  The next time I personally saw Armstrong -- as the VF-2 Commander --  he was trying to kidnap Silver Avenger Hawkins.  Despite the fact that Orion and Olympian and I fought fiercely, they managed to get away with him."

She twirls a lock of blue, fiery hair absently.  "Then, of course, it was at Berkeley Stadium, where he'd demanded that the Golden Avenger fight him one on one."

What was your reaction when you realized that the VF-2 Commander was former Silver Avenger Kevin Armstrong?

"Well, after DJ -- I mean, the Golden Avenger -- had beaten him in the stadium, he'd unmasked him.  That was the first time I knew for sure."  She shakes her head.  "It was a pretty big shock to me. I never would have thought..."

How did you react to seeing Kevin Armstrong and Darin Falswell escape from Stronghold on CNN?

"It didn't really surprise me, even though I was upset that that it had happened.  I've, ah, known Darin for a long time, too.  He's very resourceful.  They both are."

How did you go about tracking Armstrong down?  When did you see him next?

"I wasn't with the Golden Avenger, Orion and Olympian when they captured him in SF -- I was, er, on vacation."

What was your feeling when he was captured in San Francisco?

"I was happy -- it made me mad how he just waltzed all over PRIMUS like he did.  The guys called me up -- tracked us down in St. Croix -- and told me the news."

How did you feel when the Serpent Syndicate allegedly captured Moira Rennie Armstrong and Ellen Rennie from PRIMUS?   When did you find out otherwise?

"I couldn't believe that PRIMUS security in Washington could be so easily breached -- I was stunned.  I guess it figures in retrospect that it wasn't really VIPER, but the new group that Armstrong works with -- the Wild Geese -- who pulled it off."

What are your plans now that Armstrong is again at large?

"I don't really have specific plans.  I know that if he ever crosses my path again that I'll probably kill him for hurting Stephen, I mean, Silver Avenger Hawkins. I have no idea what VIPER did to him, or why he acted the way he did, but I swear that someday he'll have to pay for all the people he's hurt."
